Our broad based admission policy allows us to assess a student on their academics, co-curricular activities, personal pursuits and areas of interest. Please review the admission requirements by selecting the category that best fits your academic history below.
  • Recent BC and Yukon High School Graduates


    Applicants from BC and Yukon high schools must satisfy the following requirements

    • 1. English Language Admission Standard. An English Placement Test may be required.¬†
    • 2. Graduation from a provincial high school with a minimum GPA of 67%. ¬†¬†
    • 3. Completion of English 12 and three additional Gr. 12 courses. See further down this page for a list of approved courses.¬†





    Application Process

    Applicants will be required to submit an essay describing how their high school program has prepared them for post-secondary education and provide evidence to support their essay. Examples of supplemental documents include Grad Transitions portfolio, writing samples and artwork.   • Recent Out of Province High School Graduates


    Applicants from out of province schools must satisfy the following requirements

    • 3. Completion of English 12.¬†

  • Recent High School Graduates from the USA


    Applicants from the United States of America must satisfy the following requirements

    • 1. Graduation from an academic program equivalent to Canadian Grade 12.¬†¬†
    • 2. Four years of English courses (to the senior level).¬†¬†
    • 3. Three years of mathematics (to the junior level).¬†¬†
    • 4. Three additional full-year senior-level academic subjects.¬†¬†


    You are invited to submit your SAT or ACT scores to support your application (not required). 

    Students who have not successfully completed four years of English courses may be required to meet the English Admission Standard and provide a TOEFL score (or results from a similar approved test). All applicants who have not achieved a grade of B+ or higher in senior level English may be required to write the English Placement Test (EPT).

  • International Students


    International Students

    Corpus Christi welcomes applications from qualified international students of all cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds. Following is a list of general admission requirements, however applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

    International students graduating for a Canadian high school must satisfy the following requirements

    • 1. English Language Admission Standard (see below). An English Placement Test may be required.¬†
    • 2. Graduation from a Canadian high school with a minimum GPA of 67%.¬†
    • 3. Completion of English 12 and three additional Gr. 12 courses. Click here for a list of approved courses.


    International students graduating from a secondary school abroad must satisfy the following requirements

    • 1. A Secondary School Diploma awarded by a recognized institution or authority.¬†
    • 2. School transcripts in any language other than English must be accompanied by a certified translation.¬†


    All International Students must also meet the College's English Language Standard (see below).

  • Transfer, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Placement Students


    Transfer Students

    Transfer Students Applicants who were registered at a recognized post-secondary institution(s) will be considered transfer students. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended must be submitted to Corpus Christi College.

    Transfer students are admitted according to Corpus Christi's broad-based admission policy. To apply, students must follow the same steps as students applying directly from high school. Transfer credit will be assigned according to the College's Transfer Credit policy found in Academic policies. Students with International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement Credits Corpus Christi recognizes these secondary school programs.

    Students with International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement credits should submit their official transcripts to the Office of Admissions & Records. The Registrar will determine credit for these courses on a case by case basis.

    To apply, students must follow the same steps as students applying directly from high school.

    Other Applicant Categories


    Adult Basic Education

    Corpus Christi recognizes the Adult Basic Education Provincial Diploma for admission to the first year of an undergraduate program. A minimum average of C+ is required based on Mathematics, English, a Science and a Language at the Advanced Level and English plus three academic subjects at the Provincial level chosen from the following: Biology, Chemistry, Geography, History, Literature, Mathematics and Physics. College transfer courses may not be used as part of the ABE Provincial Diploma for admission to the College.

    Home-Schooled Students

    Students who complete their secondary education through home-schooling are evaluated on a case by case basis. Prior Learning Assessment Applicants with prior post-secondary credit are assigned transfer credit according to best practices as set out by BCCAT. Credit is not assigned for non-academic experience although this experience may be taken into account when considering an applicant for admission as a Mature Student.

    Mature Students

    Corpus Christi evaluates a mature applicant's potential for academic success on a case by case basis. Not all mature applicants will be admitted to Corpus Christi. Mature Students must have been out of formal education for at least 18 months and must be at least 19 years old. Once Mature Students have earned a minimum of 9 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, they may apply through the Registrar's Office to be evaluated for admission to the Associate of Arts program.

    Unclassified Students

    Applicants seeking to take a limited number of courses for personal interest who meet the minimum entrance requirements may be admitted as Unclassified Students.

    Visiting Students

    Students in good standing at other post-secondary institutions may apply to take a limited number of courses at Corpus Christi, subject to available space. Students must provide a Letter of Permission (LOP) from their home institution. Concurrent Enrollment Students who have demonstrated academic excellence and who are enrolled in a high school graduation program that meets the College's entrance requirements may enroll concurrently at Corpus Christi College in a limited number of courses through Running Start.



 

English Language Admission Standards


English is the primary language of instruction at Corpus Christi College. All prospective students are required to demonstrate a minimum level of English before they’re admitted. Applicants can demonstrate their English-language proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • 1. Complete three or more consecutive years of full-time education in English within Canada immediately prior to attending Corpus Christi.
  • 2. Provide proof of a minimum grade* of 67% in either: English 12,¬†English Literature 12, or¬†English 12 First Peoples¬†
  • 3. Achieve a minimum grade of 4 on Advanced Placement (AP) English Language or Literature¬†
  • 4. Achieve a minimum grade of A1 or A2 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) English Language A (Standard Level)¬†
  • 5. Take the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) exam and achieve a minimum Essay Level score of 4. ¬†

  • 6. Achieve a minimum score of 450 on the GED Language Arts Writing & Reading¬†
  • 7. International students have the following options:¬†
  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 550 (PBT) or 83 (iBT)
    IELTS: A minimum overall band test score of 6.5 (academic module only) 
    EIKEN: A minimum placement of Grade 1 on the Test in Practical English   
  • 8. A minimum overall and essay score of "60" on the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) or CELPIP 2 will be accepted as a substitution to English 12 "C"¬†
  • 9. Provide proof of enrolment in a college-level writing or literature course that transfers as a college level English or a Communications or a Creative Writing course ¬†

  • *Blended grade, based on both the course grade and the provincial exam mark
