The Federal Government has declared September 19 as a day of mourning in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to coincide with her funeral in London, U.K. The Province of BC has followed suit recognizing this day as a public holiday.
In recognition of the Prime Minister’s announcement and based on the direction of the Province, Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College, along with the University of British Columbia, will be observing this day as a national day of mourning. Classes will be cancelled and university employees will receive September 19th off.
With there already being several holiday Mondays in the Fall semester, some Monday courses may need to schedule a make-up class in order to the meet the required number of in-class teaching hours for the course. If this pertains to your course, you will be notified by the Office of the Registrar or your instructor.
