This interdisciplinary survey course is an introduction to the field of environmental humanities. It inquires into the web of interconnected life on earth, covering areas such as conservation, landscapes, ecological justice and environmental films. It deals with convergent ecological, political, social and spiritual crises. Rooted in classical Naturalist writing, literature, philosophy, ethics, comparative religion and Christian thought, the course explores post-structural, post-human, post-nature worldings and wanderings in order to re-examine words like ‘spirituality’, ‘nature’, ‘environment’, ‘wilderness’ and ‘culture.’
