LATN 110: Introductory Latin I

Latin 110 is an introduction to the Latin language – vocabulary, morphology and syntax – with the goal of being able to identify grammatical structures and have a knowledge of approximately 500 common Latin words. This course and Latin II combine to prepare the student for a basic reading of Latin texts, with an emphasis is Ecclesiastical Latin.

LATN 111: Introductory Latin II

Latin 111 is the natural progression from Latin 110. In Latin 111 students extend their knowledge of the Latin language to include clauses which use the subjunctive, indirect statement and comparative adjectives and adverbs, as well as increasing their vocabulary. By the midpoint of the course, students begin reading original Latin texts and engaging in discussions on how each author uses language to communicate their ideas and influence their reception.
