St. Thomas More Collegiate Choir Sings at Corpus Christi-St. Mark’s Convocation
May 24, 2024
The award-winning St. Thomas More Collegiate (STMC) Choir was invited to perform at the 2024 Corpus-Christi St. Mark’s Convocation. Convocation celebrates graduates from undergraduate and graduate programs and featured an address by Honorary Doctorate recipient, Sr. Nancy Brown, as well as remarks from The Most Reverend J. Michael Miller, CSB, Archbishop of Vancouver and Chancellor of Corpus Christi-St. Mark’s.
The St. Thomas More Collegiate Choir program features five premier performance ensembles. The Convocation audience was treated to a performance by a select group of auditioned singers from Grades 9-12, demonstrating the choir’s impressive range and talent.
Under the direction of Choir Director Johnson Lui, these dedicated students rehearse three times a week at 7 a.m., balancing their commitment to the choir with their academics and other extracurriculars. The choir’s performance at Convocation included a powerful rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” arranged by Roger Emerson.
The STMC Chamber Singers, a prestigious group within the STMC choir program, currently rank as a top choir in British Columbia and have consistently placed in the top 10 choirs across Canada since 2016. This recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of the choir members and their director.
Thank you to the St. Thomas More Collegiate Choir and Choir Director Johnson Lui for their involvement in this year’s Convocation. Their performance was a memorable highlight, showcasing the exceptional talent of these young performers.
