What Are Placement Tests?

Placement Tests are designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills of incoming students to place them in appropriate courses. These tests help ensure that students are enrolled in courses that match their current level of proficiency, ensuring they are neither under-challenged nor overwhelmed.

At Corpus Christi-St. Mark’s College, our placement tests help students determine their course placement in the following courses:

  • English
    • ENGL 099 (Introduction to Academic Writing Skills)
    • ENGL 150 (Academic Research and Writing)
  • Math
    • MATH 099 (Pre-Calculus)
    • MATH 110 (Differential Calculus I)

Each placement test costs $50 (refundable) plus a $4.58 platform processing fee (non-refundable).

Each eligible test candidate is only allowed ONE attempt per semester.

When Do I Need A Placement Test?

You will need to take a placement test if you want to register for a course but have been notified by the Enrolment Services office ([email protected]) that you do not meet the enrollment criteria.

In this case, you may receive a referral from Enrollment Services to take a placement test if you are eligible for the test. Book your placement test only after receiving a referral from Enrollment Services.
